Violet R. Kopperud

Violet Ruth (Cisewski) Kopperud, 76 years wise, of Rushford, MN, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Valley View Healthcare Center in Houston, MN.

She was born on December 28, 1948, in Winona, MN. Married Larry Glenn Kopperud on September 12, 1970, with whom she was married to for almost 50 years before his passing. It was 1973 when they moved to the family farm to continue the legacy, raise their children, welcome grandchildren, and live a meaningful and full life. Neighbors and close friends from childhood (Barb Ward) enriching their lives.

Violet was an avid reader, painter, crafter, and a professional nurse with some retail shopping therapy thrown in. Her nursing passion began as an LPN and later in life when her children were grown, went back to Nursing school at Viterbo to gain her RN degree with which she made the Dean’s list. Her nursing and compassion for others also led her to Africa with Doctors Without Borders to vaccinate children and families in Tanzania. Her professional career spanned decades, devoting several years at Good Shepherd Nursing home, Valley View Healthcare- Rehab, Fillmore County health as a county nurse supporting families and making friends in the Amish community.

She loved and was loved. Her granddaughter Julia holding a special place by her side over these last few years, helping with Grandpa’s care and hers when she needed it. Along with many others from family, neighbors, and friends.

Violet is survived by her brother Albert Jr. Cisewski, three children and six grandchildren: Brian (Barbara), Matthew, and Emily; Michelle (Emmett Cook), Cora, Chris (Christi), Julia, Landon, and Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents Albert and Margaret and sister Rose.

According to her wishes, private family services will be held on the family farm.
