Steven W. Beardsley

Steven “Steve” W. Beardsley, 64, of Galesville, WI, passed away on December 22, 2024, at Gundersen Health System Hospital in La Crosse, WI, surrounded by family.

Steve was born on March 17, 1960, to Lester H. and Clara (Malenke) Beardsley, in Winona, MN. His childhood was spent on the family farm on German Ridge near Stockton, MN. Steve graduated from Winona Senior High and received a certificate from SE Technical College for Auto Mechanics. In 1980, he married Pamela Merchlewitz. They had two children together, Lester and Sara. They would later divorce.

Steve milked cows on his small hobby farm near Galesville, WI, and worked maintenance full-time at United Machine and Foundry in Winona, MN. In 2016, he married Judy (Rine) Mayo.

Besides spending time with his family and friends, he loved being a “Papa” to his granddaughter, Kylynne. Special memories were made reading together, attending tractor pulls, and picking up sticks in the yard. He loved farming, gardening, canning vegetables and pickles, attending auctions, hunting, fishing, and working on racecars. Steve loved a good joke. He was kind, loving, had a big heart, and was always willing to help someone out. Steve loved watching westerns, comedies, and Christmas movies. Christmas was his favorite time of the year.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his wife and caretaker, Judy (Mayo) Beardsley; children: Lester (MaryBeth) Beardsley and Sara Beardsley; stepson, Lance (Anna) Mayo; granddaughter, Kylynne Beardsley; sister, Carol Beardsley; nephew, Michael (Heather) Beardsley; great-nephew, Cooper; and his friend and neighbor, April Gillmeister.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Gary Beardsley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10 AM until the 12 Noon service and time of sharing. A private family burial will be held in Trempealeau Public Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts are preferred.
