Scott Thomas Hazelton, 66, of Minnesota City, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, September 14, 2018, surrounded by family and close friends.
Scott was born August 26, 1952, in Winona, as the youngest of 5 children to Ebben A. and Bernadine (Schneider) Hazelton.
His dad owned Hazelton Kennels where he worked and enjoyed his love for animals. Scott enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days. He graduated from Winona Senior High and began working at Winona lighting. One of Scott’s many adventures took him to Casper Wyoming for a number of years where his sister Janet and family lived. There he experienced the West and met Carla Fenton and her two young boys. They married and moved back to Winona and welcomed their new son Greg.
Scott started working as a commercial mechanical Insulator for Fiberfab in La Crosse eventually starting his own company, Coulee Insulation, operating it with his son Greg. He eventually renamed the business Hazelton Insulation. Scott enjoyed trips to the casino and playing league golf with his friends at Westfield Golf Course.
Scott’s generosity was always evident as he was the first to open his home and sprawling yard to family and friends for barbecues, special occasions along with fun times at the fire pit, all of which he was proud to provide. His boisterous laugh and big heart will be forever remembered. He will be greatly missed.
Scott is survived by his son, Greg (Tracy) Hazelton and future grandbaby; Greg’s siblings: Chad Hazelton (children Fisher and Janey), Calvin Fenton (children Sara and Tanner); and step-siblings: Lexie and Nick Wozney; Scott’s special best friend, Laurie, and her two sons, Jamie and Jeremy Graves; his siblings: Janet (David) Sebo, Bob (Kathy) Hazelton, David (Linda) Hazelton, and Donnie (Tamara) Hazelton; half-siblings: Ted Hazelton and Candie (Jason) Anderson; his aunts: Delores Dubois and Maryann Moore; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and his faithful dog, Louie.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held from 11 AM until the time of a Prayer Service at 1 PM, on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Deacon Justin Green will officiate. Following the service, a gathering will be held at the VFW Club in Winona.
Scott’s family would like to extend their appreciation to Winona Health Hospice, and especially to Heather, for the excellent care that he received.
The family respectfully asks that memorials be considered in lieu of flowers.
