Ruth Squires

Ruth Mary Squires, age 93, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2022.

Ruth was born on July 30, 1929, in Dakota, MN, to Joseph and Elsie (Lutz) Drexel, and grew up on a farm in Dakota Valley.  She attended school at St. John’s in Nodine, and later attended Winona Senior High School.

She married Robert Squires on October 24, 1950, at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona, and together they had three children.  Robert passed away on March 8, 2002.

Ruth was a stay-at-home wife and mother who enjoyed baking, gardening, and reading.  She loved the company of several small dogs over the years, with Zada being a great comfort to her in later years. Ruth was a member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona.

Ruth is survived by her son, Steven (Sharon); daughter, Susan; grandsons: Craig (Emily) and Mike; great-granddaughters: Audrey and Samantha; daughter-in-law: Patricia; son-in-law: Garry; as well as other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; daughter, Linda; parents; sister, Helen; brother, Dave; and numerous in-laws.

Honoring Ruth’s wishes, there will be a private family service.  She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona.
