Roger Myers

Roger R. Myers, age 85, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Lake Winona Manor.

He was born on September 9, 1932, in Ridgeway, MN, to Robert and Minnie (Hahn) Myers.  Roger was united in marriage with Shirley M. Krage on September 10, 1955, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona.

Roger was employed with Winona Monument Company, Thern, Inc., and he also enjoyed working at the Winona Target Store in his retirement.

He honorably served his country with the United States Air Force, and was a member of the American Legion.  He was also a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, an elder, on the Board of Education, Lutheran Laymen’s League, and played on the church dartball league.

Roger will be remembered for the pride he took in his home, especially how he enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, and doing various remodeling projects.

Roger is survived by his wife: Shirley; sons: Steven (Debra) Myers, and Kent Myers; grandchildren: Jason (Lisa) Myers, Carrie (Connor) Chapman, Craig Myers, Noel Myers, Nathan Myers, and Seth Myers; great-grandchildren: Asher Myers, Lainey Myers, Cambrie Chapman, and Cade Chapman; sister-in-law: Marilyn Myers; a special friend: Kris Myers; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his children: Terry and Michelle; parents; brother: Raymond Myers; sisters: Dorothy Myers, Helen Sellers, Frances Nash, and Phyllis Lawson; and nephews: Rick Nash and Sgt. Bruce Krage.

Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until the funeral service at 1 PM on Monday, May 7, 2018, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Reverend Richard A. Moore will officiate.  Roger will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 will provide military honors.
