Roger W. Brown, Sr. age 85, of Winona, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Winona Health.
He was born on February 22, 1933, in Winona, to Leon and Esther (Gille) Brown. Roger was united in marriage with Ardis R. Walters on December 23, 1950, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona, and she preceded him in death on October 22, 2017. Together Roger and Ardis had six children: Mary (Bruce) Kryzer, Roger (Sharon) Brown, Jr., Robert (Linda) Brown, Terri (John) Ronnenberg, Richard Brown, and Rodney Brown; 16 beautiful grandchildren: Bonnie, Bruce, Kevin, Sheyenne, Scott, Evan, Andrea, Rick, Jessica, Timothy, Jenni, Breanna, Kendra, Ashley, Kenny, and Kyle; and many great-grandchildren. Roger is also survived by his sisters: Juanita Beeman, Sandy (Wayne) Valentine, and Sharon Murphy; and sisters-in-law: Ann and Pearl.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughters: Mary Kryzer and Terri Ronnenberg; brothers: Jerry and Charlie; and a sister, Harriet.
Roger was employed with Winona Manufacturing, as a parts and service manager for Chrysler Corner, and he also enjoyed tending bar with Ardis at the VFW Club in Winona. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, where he served as an usher and was also a BINGO worker.
He will be remembered for his love of the Mississippi River, and even though he was never able to fulfill his dream of being a farmer, later in life he was able to enjoy helping on his son’s farm. Roger was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa whose greatest concern was taking care of his family. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 20, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverend Richard Dernek will officiate. Roger will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
