Robert L. "Bob" Wolf

Robert (Bob) L. Wolf, age 97, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Winona Health Hospital in Winona, MN, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on May 19, 1927 in Westford Township, Martin County, MN to Henry and Clara (Schulz) Wolf. Bob was a 1945 graduate of Dr. Martin Luther High School in New Ulm, MN. He went for further education, graduating with a teaching degree from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1948.

After graduating from college, Bob’s first teaching assignment was as a missionary/teacher to the White Mountain Apaches in Arizona. During the five years he was in Arizona, he met his future wife, Roserita “Rosie” Anderson of Bylas, AZ. They were married on July 29, 1956, at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop, MN. Rosie preceded him in death on September 10, 2019.

After leaving Arizona in 1953, Bob served various congregations in Minnesota as a Lutheran school teacher including Mankato and Good Thunder. In 1956, he accepted a teacher/principal position at Trinity Lone Oak School in what is now Eagan, MN. After 5 years at Trinity, Bob accepted a call in 1961 to serve as a teacher and later principal of St. Martin’s Lutheran School in Winona, MN. During his off-time from teaching, he usually would work another job such as teaching drivers’ training, selling AAL (Thrivent) Insurance, or selling products for people and their homes. After he left teaching, Bob worked as a fertilizer salesman, a school fundraiser representative and delivered newspapers for the Rochester Post-Bulletin in the Winona area until his retirement. Bob was proud that in the 50 years he was employed, he never missed a day of work due to illness.

Bob was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona, MN. He was previously an active member with the International Walther League, serving as a district president. Bob was a man of great faith and was given many talents which he used in his teaching positions and in all walks of his life.

Bob is lovingly survived by his daughter, Marita (Craig Thompson) Wolf; sister-in-law, Beatrice Lucero; brothers-in-law, Leon Anderson, Sr., and Terry (Rebecca) Anderson, Sr.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosie; parents, Henry and Clara; sister, Mildred; and brother, Bernard.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Winona Manor for their years of care. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona. The Reverend William Flesch will officiate. Following the service, a visitation will be held until 5 PM.

Bob will be laid to rest on Thursday, November 7, 2024, beside Rosie at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Northrop, MN.
