Rita Thill

Rita E. Thill, age 95, of Winona, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Lake Winona Manor.

She was born on November 13, 1922, in Wilson, MN, to Ben and Florence (Koenig) Rolfing, and was united in marriage with Gilbert Thill on June 8, 1946.  He preceded her in death on February 12, 1995.

Rita was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, the Winona Council of Catholic Women, Shrine Auxiliary, St. Anne Extended Healthcare Auxiliary, Winona Elks Lodge #327, and she also volunteered for the Red Cross.

She will be remembered as an avid Twins fan, and for her love of flowers, playing cards - especially 500, spending time with her beloved dog, Roxie, and for the devotion she had to her Catholic faith.

Rita is survived by her brothers and sisters: Lillian (Jerry) Abts, Roger (Mary) Rolfing, Elizabeth (Paul) Matton, Bernard (Barb) Rolfing, Celestine “Sally” Rietz, and Audrey Rolfing; sisters-in-law: Alice Rolfing and Mary Schroetke; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers: Frank Rolfing and Earl Rolfing; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Marietta and Robert Johnson, Lorine and Jim Thorn, and Bob Rietz, including Gilbert’s siblings and their spouses.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona.  The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate.  Rita will be laid to rest in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Wilson.

Memorials may be directed to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona Health Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.
