Renay M. Martinson

Renay M. Martinson, age 79, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Winona Health Hospital.

She was born on March 27, 1945, in Arcadia, WI, to John and Irma (Veto) Marsh, Sr. Renay was united in marriage with Ronald Dettinger, and he preceded her in death in 1971. She later married LaVerne Martinson, and he preceded her in death in 2020.

Renay was employed as a nurse with St. Michael’s Lutheran Home in Fountain City, and also provided home health care for many years.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of collecting knick-knacks, watching reality TV shows, trips to the casino, and visiting with her family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was her family - she cherished the time that she spent with her grandchildren, and was extremely proud that her granddaughter has chosen to pursue a career in nursing.

Renay was a long-time member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona.

Renay is survived by her daughter: Kari Lynn (Robert) Swickert; granddaughters: Kathryn and Isabella; step-children: Marcy (Gary) Thomas, Tammy Martinson, and Christine (Scott) Steffy; as well as several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, and her siblings: Curtis Marsh, Jr., Arlys Martinson, and Avis George.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 11 AM until a funeral service at noon. The Reverend Winfried Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
