Patricia A. Pape

Patricia A. Pape, age 87, of La Crescent, MN, and formerly of Ridgeway, MN, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Springbrook Village in La Crescent, MN.

She was born on March 5, 1936, in Winona, to Wilfred and Meta (Pretzer) Linander, and graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1953.  Patricia was united in marriage with Kenneth W. Pape on January 4, 1958, at St. John’s Parsonage in Nodine, MN, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2023.

Patricia worked at the Standard Lumber Company until her marriage, and she then became a full-time housewife and mother to five children, while also enjoying life on the farm and gardening.

She was a life-long member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Nodine, where she was baptized on May 17, 1936, and was confirmed in the Christian Faith on August 7, 1949.  Patricia was a member of the St. John’s Ladies Aid, and she was a volunteer for many years at Winona Health in Winona and the Good Steward Shop in La Crosse.

She was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed making delicious meals for her family – if you ever left her house hungry, it was your own fault!  Patricia will be remembered as one of the sweetest people you would ever meet, and how she always put others before herself.  She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Patricia is lovingly survived by her children: Will (Ingrid) Pape, Dakota, MN; Bob (Tammy) Pape, Winona, MN; Denny (Michelle) Pape, Ridgeway, MN; Sharon Pape, Dakota, MN; and Steve (Shannon) Pape, Nodine, MN; grandchildren: Shawn (Hannah) Pape; Jena (Mitch) DeMoss; Chelsea (Sam) Enright; Isaac (Taylor Engstler) Pape; Jake (Heather) Pape; Rachel Pape; Karson, Kiahna, and Kamden Pape; great-grandchildren: William and Henry Pape; Everly, Hayden, and Brooks DeMoss; and Easton Enright; brothers: Wayne (Sherry) Linander and Bruce Linander; sisters: Joyce (Norm) Gile and Carol (Dave) Gerdes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson: Joseph Pape; brothers: Alfred and Glen Linander; and a sister-in-law: Vivian Linander

Visitation will be held at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Nodine, MN, on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 9 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM.  The Reverend Mark Rieke will officiate.  Patricia will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be Patricia’s grandchildren and their spouses.

Patricia’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Springbrook Village in La Crescent, and to Moments Hospice of La Crosse, for the loving care that she received.
