Pamela Kay Farnholtz, 68, died peacefully on March 9, 2024, after a long battle with health issues. She got her angel wings and is reunited with her infant son.
Being born on January 2, 1956, she was Winona's New Year’s baby. She grew up with her family in Winona County on a farm between Ridgeway and Witoka. Most of her youth was spent at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind in Faribault, MN. After graduating from public school at Winona Senior High, Pam attended and graduated from St. Mary’s College in Winona. She taught braille for two years in Minneapolis. During her adult life she lived either in the Twin Cities area or Winona.
Pam was very independent and easily walked, used public transportation, or hitchhiked to get wherever she needed to go or wherever her whim took her. Some of Pam’s favorite things to do in life included having a pet cat, listening to the radio, T.V., country music and talking books, going to church, and knitting. She specialized in knit scarves and hats. Her knitting projects often won prizes at the Winona County Fair as did her chilis in the chili competitions.
Pam was proceeded in death by her infant son, Stephen; youngest sister, Elizabeth Weilandt; father, Donald Farnholtz; maternal grandmother, Olga Meiners Thimmesch; and paternal grandmother, Nora Bratberg Farnholtz. She is survived by her two children: Annette "Wendy" Schulz and Mark Wolfe (Jaslyn); grandchildren: Liam, Elena, Lila, Nolan, Lilly, Maddy, and Jason; mother, Betty Lou Farnholtz (Jerry Sabby); younger siblings: Cindy Rocque (Pete), Roger Farnholtz (Julie Price), Patty Stupca (Steve), and Chriss Fruechte (Brad Spooner); and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1664 Kraemer Dr., Winona, MN, with visitation from 10 AM until the service at 11 AM. Pastor Ryan Eden will officiate. Lunch will be provided at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind.
