Mike Roffler

Mike J. Roffler, age 81, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Winona Health, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mike was born on September 24, 1936, in Cream, WI, to Christ and Emma (Pieper) Roffler.  He was united in marriage with Beverly J. Hoffman on July 19, 1980, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona, and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2014.

He was a long-time employee of Brom Foundry and was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, as well as many local clubs and organizations.

Mike will be remembered for his love of animals, his great sense of humor, and how he was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and the Packers.  He was often seen walking or riding his bicycle around Winona puffing a cigar while picking up stray cans along the way.  In his later years, he enjoyed working crossword puzzles while watching TV classics and Western movies. The last few years Mike was a resident at St. Anne Extended Healthcare and he enjoyed participating in all of their daily activities, but his favorite was Bingo.

He was a man of strong character, who was hard-working and generous.  Mike was a devoted and loving father, husband, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.

Mike is lovingly survived by his daughter, Joyce Roffler; siblings: Barb Padgett, Evangeline (Don) Thaldorf, Elaine (Ron) Flury, Chris (Ruth) Roffler, and Diane Roffler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Roger, Richard, and Delores; and nephews: Scott, Jason, and Glenn.

Visitation will be held from 12PM until the funeral service at 1PM on Friday, March 2, 2018, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The Reverend Richard A. Moore will officiate.  Mike will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
