MICHAEL SCOTT FLORIN

Michael Scott Florin, beloved son, brother, and friend was called home by the Lord on Friday, October 21, 2016, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Michael was born to Scott and Linda (Durnen) Florin on June 8, 1979. Michael was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, camp and boat. His love of the outdoors led Michael to organize and run several fishing events for the enjoyment of friends and coworkers. Michael loved nothing more than to take friends out in his boat, camping and fishing.

Mike loved to cook and was a long time employee of KFC Winona.

Michael is survived by his parents; a sister, Amanda; grandmother, Beverly Durnen; grandfather, Linn Florin; and numerous aunts and uncles. Michael had a special bond with his nephews, Alex and Dylan, and his niece, Ashley. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Durnen, and grandmother, Nona (Carney) Florin.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Team Vogel for their compassion and support, to the Durnen family for their unwavering love for Mike, to those friends who spent time with Mike during his last months, as well as to those who donated to help him with his medical expenses. We especially acknowledge our aunt, Jane Neumann, for all of the support and compassion during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Thursday, October 27, 2016, from 3 PM until the time of a funeral service at 5 PM.  The Reverend Jonathan Fasnacht will officiate.
