MARY JEAN IVES

Mary Jean Ives, age 77, of Winona, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.

Mary Jean was born on May 13, 1939, in Winona, to John and Blanche (Bilicki) Rozek.  She was united in marriage with James Ives on December 2, 1961, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona, by Bishop Edward A. Fitzgerald.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of going to Snap Fitness, her devotion to the Minnesota Twins, and how she loved any type of game, game show, or puzzle.  Mary Jean was known by many as the “cookie lady,” and she loved baking for her family, friends, and for many fundraisers.  As a member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, she was also active in baking for the funeral lunch committee.

Mary Jean’s family was the foundation of her life, and there was nothing that was more important to her.  She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her the most.

Mary Jean is lovingly survived by her husband, Jim, Winona; daughters: Michelle (Robert) Benson, Rosemount, MN; Donna (Daryl) Orthmann, Savage, MN; and Laurie (David) Repinski, Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren: Jason (Laura), Andrew (Amanda), Bradley (Cheryl), Megan, Madison, Kyle, and Zachary; step-great-grandchildren: Mitchell, Colin, and Heidi; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Donald, Bob, and Phyllis.

Visitation will be held at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Winona on Friday, January 27, 2017, from 8:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.  The Reverend Mark C. Mc Nea will officiate.

Mary Jean will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in a private family ceremony.

Mary Jean’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the local Diabetes Association.
