Mary Tousignant

Mary Tousignant passed away at the age of 85. For 36 years she coached and taught at Melrose High School in Melrose, Minn. Last year, Melrose High School honored Mary at their “50 years of Title IX” celebration. Mary was a force for good and leaves a legacy of strong, smart, beautiful people in her stead. Many, who had the privilege of calling her sister, coach, aunt, and friend will miss her terribly. Mary is survived by her sister, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Mary was the first women’s coach for Melrose track, volleyball, basketball, and cheerleading and dedicated her life to bettering young women through sport. Appropriately, Mary will be buried with the basketball net from the 1979 girls state basketball tournament. Go Dutchmen!
