Mary Stiehl

Mary M. Stiehl, age 96, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at her home.

She was born on May 5, 1922, in Waumandee Township, Wisconsin, to Frank and Josephine (Jaskola) Grulkowski.  She married Herbert J. Stiehl on June 20, 1949, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee, WI, and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1976.

Mary was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, and had been employed with Winona Industries.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, canning, fishing and playing BINGO.  Mary had a deep devotion to her faith and will be remembered as an excellent homemaker whose family was always at the center of her life.

Mary is lovingly survived by her children: Mary Hundt, Carrol (James) Glodowski, Rose (Richard) Waldera, Robert Stiehl, Joan (Duane) Wobig, and Larry (Mary Katherine) Stiehl; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sisters: Roseanne (Robert) Berberich, and Margaret (Alfred) Schlesser; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law: Marvin Hundt; grandchildren: Jeffrey Hundt, Ellen Glodowski, Charlotte Glodowski, and Britney Dawn Stiehl; and her brothers and sisters: Roman (Florence) Grulkowski, Frances (Roman) Rotering, Antoinette (George) Bauers, Gertrude (Ralph) Passe, Virginia (Douglas) Horsnell, and Emil (Josephine) Grulkowski.

The recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at 4 PM on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, with visitation following the Rosary until 6 PM.  Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.  Mary will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Waldera, John Glodowski, Frank Glodowski, Jesse Stiehl, Nick Wobig, and Tim Flanagan.
