Mary J. Flad

Mary J. Flad, age 70, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at her home.

She was born on June 25, 1953, in Winona, to Ewald and Adelia (Jeske) Gaedy.  Following high school, Mary completed her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Winona State University. 

Mary was united in marriage with Stephen J. Flad on May 13, 1978, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Ridgeway.

Prior to her retirement, Mary owned and operated her accounting firm, Flad Limited, for 36 years.

Mary was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, and its Women of Grace.  While working, Mary was involved with Women in Business, as well as several professional accounting societies.  She was also active in 4-H both as a youth and as a parent.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of golfing, and as a member of Cedar Valley Golf Course, she participated in their Ladies Golf League. 

Mary is lovingly survived by her husband, Steve; children: Rebecca (Chris) Maki, and Robert Flad; grandchild: Asher Maki; siblings: Elroy (Barbara) Gaedy; Elverna (Donald) Matthees; and Howard Gaedy; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Willard Gaedy.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Monday, July 17, 2023, from 6 PM to 8 PM.  Visitation will also be held at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, MN, on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM.  Pastor Jason Threlkeld will officiate.  Mary will be laid to rest at the Bush Cemetery in Ridgeway.

Pallbearers will be: Dennis Boelter, Ron Meier, Paul Matthees, Merle Gaedy, Bryan Gaedy, and Ben Gaedy.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Ridgeway.
