MARY ANN (GROCHOWSKI) BROWN
Mary Ann (Grochowski) Brown, a long-time resident of the Winona area, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Lake Winona Manor, surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 1, 1928, in Winona, MN, to Max and Clara (Masyga) Grochowski. She attended St. Stanislaus grade school in Winona and graduated from Winona Senior High School.
Mary was united in marriage with Stanley W. Brown on December 31, 1949, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona. Stanley preceded her in death on June 26, 1993.
Mary was known by all as a wonderful wife and mother, but being a grandmother and great-grandmother was her ultimate joy in life; she loved nothing more than being with her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, and as a dedicated homemaker, enjoyed cooking for her loved ones. Her grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of long bike rides by the lake, hours of playing card games, and watching the Minnesota Twins with their grandmother. Mary will be remembered for her love of bingo nights, watching game shows, and listening to music. She enjoyed her many years working at Bambenek’s market as a cashier.
Mary is lovingly survived by her children: Ellen (Steve) Kazar, Edie (Joe) Reinke, Kathy (Bob) Hengel, Tim (Chrissy) Brown, and Melissa (David) Fogarty; grandchildren: Greg (June Rogers) Stinocher and Moira Evans; Jess (Jake) Pearson; Jon (Jennifer) Hengel and Joe Hengel; Jaimie Vix; Michaela, Hannah and Hadyn Brown; and Madeline and Jacob Fogarty; great-grandchildren: Grady and Matthew Hengel; and Lola and Vivi Evans; her sister, Maxine Gabrych; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; son, Paul; parents, Max and Clara; brother, Robert Grochowski; sister, Phyllis Malotka; and brothers-in- law: Gene Malotka and Elmer Gabrych.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, on Monday, October 3, 2016, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Deacon James Welch will officiate.
Mary will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona.
