Marie A. Williamson, age 95, of Winona, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, with family by her side.
Marie was born on August 18, 1925, to Sherman and Frances (Stanislawski) Kiedrowski at home in beautiful Fox Coulee in Trempealeau County, WI. Marie married tall, dark, and handsome Richard “Dick” Williamson on February 11, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, WI. The honeymoon lasted for 48 loving years. Together they had three children: Karen, James (Jim), and Ann.
Marie was a longtime member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, its funeral lunch committee, participated in Eucharistic Adoration, and volunteered for the Cathedral’s festivals and bazaar.
Marie and Dick farmed on a farm one mile north of Centerville, WI, for many years before moving to Winona. Marie worked as the “hot lunch lady” at Cathedral and Cotter Schools for 34 years – she served two generations of kids. After serving the hot lunch meal, Marie would come home to fix a homemade, from scratch, meal for her family.
Marie enjoyed dancing at the Acorn Ballroom, listening to music, flower gardening, sewing, picnics, Sunday car rides, and get-togethers with family and friends. She was known for her delicious holiday meals, her large assortment of Christmas cookies, a flaky pie crust, homemade bread and buns, and the very best sugar cookies.
Marie’s faith, children, and her home were the most important to her. She had a “trust in God” and loved everyone unconditionally. There was a Rosary by each one of her three favorite chairs, and she prayed them often.
Marie’s greatest love was for her children, and she told them so frequently. Everyone was always welcomed into Marie’s home.
Marie is survived by her three children: Karen (Bruce Burnham) Williamson; Jim (Therese Cowl) Williamson; and Ann (Rick Wetzel) Williamson; her lifetime friend, Marie Maliszewski; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Gertrude, Helen, Florian, Ceil, Leona “Toots”, Harry, and Bernadine. Marie was the last of her generation.
Marie’s family would like to thank those at Benedictine – St Anne who provided compassionate care, and also to Dr. Charles Shepard for his many years of care.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate. Marie will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
A memorial is being arranged.
