Margaret Sorum

Margaret E. Sorum, age 92, of Rushford, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

She was born on July 27, 1928, in Hart Township, MN, to Arthur and Anna (Block) Haedtke.  She was united in marriage with Clarence M. Sorum on June 18, 1949, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilson, and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2004.

Margaret and Clarence farmed for many years in the Rushford area, and after moving to town in 1975, Margaret was employed with Lake Center in Rushford until her retirement.

She was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church.

Margaret will be remembered for her love of traveling, Polka dancing, and for the wonderful life she enjoyed with Clarence.

Margaret is lovingly survived by her dedicated nephew, Marvin R. Haedtke, Jr., Winona; a special neighbor and caregiver, Franny (John) O’Shaughnessy, Rushford; as well as other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother: Marvin R. Haedtke, Sr.; and a sister: Inez Halverson.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the Rushford Lutheran Church.  Pastor Steve Chellew will officiate.  Margaret will be laid to rest in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery.

Margaret’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Winona Health Hospice, and to Franny O’Shaughnessy, for the excellent and loving care she received.
