LAVONNE M. MYERS
LaVonne M. Myers, age 95, of Winona, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Onalaska Care Center in Onalaska, WI with her family by her side.
She was born on October 12, 1921, in Plainview, MN, to William and Grace (Lawrence) Dittrich, and was a graduate of Plainview High School. LaVonne was united in marriage with Bernard Meyers on June 3, 1944, in Winona, MN, and he preceded her in death in 1956. She later married Clyde Myers on September 10, 1960, in Winona, MN, and he preceded her in death in 1964.
LaVonne was employed with Watkins in Winona, Social Services in Winona, and also with United Building Centers until her retirement.
She was a former member of St. John Nepomucene Church in Winona, was currently a member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rochester, MN, and she enjoyed volunteering with the Auxiliaries of St. Anne Extended Healthcare and Winona Health.
LaVonne will be remembered for her love of bible studies, sewing, baking, adult coloring, and many benefited from her gift of crocheted dishcloths. She was a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma who will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
LaVonne is lovingly survived by her daughters: Charlotte (Larry) Riess, Rochester Mn and Joan (Steve) Wittwer, Holmen, WI, step-son: Gary (Sandi) Myers, Winona; 7 grandchildren: Rebecca Barkey, Christy Riess, Mark Riess, Cole Wittwer, Seth Wittwer, Kimberly Vesterby, and Jeff Myers; 5 great-grandchildren: Ashton and Anna Barkey; Asher Riess; Natalie and Emily Vesterby; a sister-in-law: Dorla Jean Dittrich; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, and brothers: Hugh, Howard, Orville, and Gerald Dittrich.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, from 1:30 PM until the funeral service at 3:30 PM. The Reverend Larry Orth of Calvary Evangelical Free Church of Rochester will officiate.
LaVonne will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Following the burial, please join the family for a reception at the Green Mill Restaurant.
Pallbearers will be: Cole Wittwer, Seth Wittwer, Mark Riess, Barb Johnston, Rebecca Barkey, and Judy Schultz.
LaVonne’s family would like to thank the staff of the Onalaska Care Center for the care and love that she received.
