Kenneth W. Schreiber, age 77, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in the comfort of his home, with family by his side.
He was born on March 26, 1947, in Winona, to John and Harriet (Plinski) Schrieber, Sr., and was a graduate of Cotter High School. Ken honorably served his country with the United States Navy from 1966 to 1972 as an aviation data analyst and was deployed seven times to Vietnam.
Ken was united in marriage with Elizabeth “Betty” Abramaitys on July 6, 1990, in Winona. He was employed with United Machine and Foundry and later with Valley Security until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, Ken earned a diploma in conservation and enjoyed bow and gun hunting small and large game, duck hunting, and salmon fishing on Lake Michigan.
Ken is lovingly survived by his wife, Betty; children: Christie McConville and Ken “Chaz” Schreiber; brother, Tim (Lori) Smith; sister, Cheryl Lange (Robert); sisters-in-law: Sue Schreiber, Pat Schreiber, and Ruthann Schreiber; brother-in-law: Jack Simon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father: Eldridge Smith; brothers: Richard, Leonard, Paul, and John, Jr.; and sisters: Irene Forster, Diana Simon, and Mary Ann Moham.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until the funeral service at 1:30 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona. The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate. Ken will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors.
