KENNETH ANDREW POBLOCKI

Kenneth Andrew Poblocki, age 88, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2016, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Winona on November 5, 1927, to Joseph V. and Hieronyma “Hermy” (Kowalewski) Poblocki.  He attended St. Stanislaus Grade School in Winona from Kindergarten through 8th Grade, W-K for 9th Grade, and he graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1945.  While he was in high school, he was employed with the Rochester Dairy in Winona.

Ken honorably served his country with the United States Army, and was a member of the American Legion.  He was united in marriage with Margaret C. Stoltman on May 14, 1949, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona.

Ken was employed at Merchants National Bank of Winona from March 12, 1946, until his retirement on March 31, 1992.  During his tenure at the bank, he worked in various departments – messenger, proof department, bookkeeping, auditor, operations, and human resources.  He also served as the Vice-President of the Merchants Bank Holding Company, and retired as the Senior Vice-President and Cashier.  After his retirement, he was appointed a Director of the Merchants National Bank and its Holding Company, and retired from these positions at the age of 70.

While at the bank, Ken attended many American Institute of Banking classes, and was a graduate of Herbert V. Prochman’s Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.

Ken was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, where he was active as a lector, cashier at the annual church bazaar, and served on the Finance Committee and as a church trustee.

He was also a member of the Winona Athletic Club, the Knights of Columbus, Westfield Golf Club, PGA Partners, Winona County History Center, Polish Heritage Society, and was a former member of the Kiwanis, Elks, Winona Calliope Committee, Winona Bowling Association, and was a past social member of the Winona Country Club.

Ken is lovingly survived by his wife of 66 years, Marge; children: Peggy (Al) Joswick; Kevin (Carolyn) Poblocki; and Patsy Poblocki;  grandchildren: Jes (Wil) Miller; Abby (Gene) Lemmer; Katie (Josh) Ellinghuysen; Joe Poblocki; and Jack Poblocki; great-grandchildren: Alex, Kylie, and Andrew Lemmer; Julee, Brody, and Owen Ellinghuysen; Gracie, Jakob, and Charlie Miller; brother: Robert Poblocki; sister-in-law: Mary Lou (Dick) Baylon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hermy; sister: Virginia Witt; brother: Joseph T. (Irene) Poblocki; sister-in-law: Doris Poblocki; and Marge’s brothers: James (Leona) Stoltman; Leon (Mary) Stoltman; Robert Stoltman, and Thomas Stoltman.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from 5 PM until 7 PM, where the Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at 6:45 PM.  Visitation will also be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Thursday, April 14, 2016, from 10:30 AM until 11:15 AM, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 AM.  The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Ken will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors.

Pallbearers will be: Gary Poblocki, Dave Stoltman, Lee Stoltman, Rome Ritter, Joe Poblocki, and Andrew Lemmer.
