Keith Nelton, 71, of Winona, MN, passed away on January 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after courageously facing cancer over the last year. His remarkable strength, determination, and grace in the face of life’s challenges were hallmarks of a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
Born in Winona, MN, to Eugene and Dorothy Nelton, Keith was one of six siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Diane, Paul, Phil, and Steve. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, brother Tom (Nancy), his sister-in-law Sharon Penrod (Gary), and his brother-in-law Dan Kupietz.
In 1976, Keith married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Rebecca. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. A devoted father, Keith’s pride and joy were his daughters, Allison (Jay) and Amber (Leroy) as well as his seven grandchildren—Autumn, Brandon, Cassandra, Emmalise, Grant, Ada, and Sebastian—who brought endless light and joy to his days.
Keith blended a love for nature with his occupation in landscaping and outdoor work. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished fishing on the Mississippi River, spending time on the North Shore, boating, skiing, camping, and archery. These pursuits not only reflected his connection to nature but also created lasting memories with family and friends.
Creative and curious, Keith enjoyed hobbies like wood carving, painting, and traveling, each showcasing his adventurous spirit and artistic side. He was also a problem-solver, always ready to lend a helping hand. From fixing what was broken to assisting with family projects, his selflessness left an enduring mark on all who knew him.
Keith had a unique ability to bring people together with his warm sense of humor, thoughtful storytelling, and joyful outlook on life. Keith delighted in the small moments. His life was a celebration of simplicity, love, and faith. His quiet yet steadfast faith in Jesus was the foundation of his character, guiding his humility, kindness, and compassion.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Gundersen Healthcare team and Hospice for the exceptional care and comfort they provided during the last year.
Keith’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. His genuine heart, unwavering love for his family, and courageous spirit will never be forgotten.
