Judy Konkel

Judy M.  Konkel, age 76, of Winona, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018, at her home.

She was born on January 18, 1942, in Colfax, WI, to Peter and Eldrid (Loftsgaard) Nygaard.  In 1994, Judy married James Konkel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona.

Judy was employed for many years with Lake Center, later TRW, for many years prior to her retirement, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona.

She will be remembered for her love of flower gardening, fishing, and traveling – especially on many bus trips.  Judy was an excellent cook who loved to entertain her family and friends.  She was a loving wife, mom, and grandma, who will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Judy is lovingly survived by her husband, Jim; children: Ed Schmidt, Greg (Nancy) Konkel, Brian (Linda) Konkel, Dan (Patrice) Konkel, Bob (Connie) Schmidt, Carol Schmidt, Jim (Brenda) Schmidt, Bill (Denise) Schmidt, Susie (Al) Carlson, Tom (Marcia) Schmidt, Rick (Bridget) Schmidt, and Kathy (Brian) Swanson; grandchildren: Alex Schmidt, Erin Konkel, Mitchell “Itchy” Konkel, Marita Konkel, Justin Konkel, and Jacob Konkel; sisters: Becky Peterson and Corrine Schliesleder; brother-in-law: Ray Dreger; sisters-in-law: Mary (Mike) Casey and Judy (Bob) Rothe; nieces and nephews: Jason and Jarrod Peterson; Al and Margaret Schliesleder; and Jimmy, Randy, and Jeremy Dreger; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-sons: Kevin Konkel and Dennis Schmidt; sisters: Petra Dreger and Viola Stodola; and a sister-in-law: Jane Jick.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at noon on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home in Winona.  The Reverend James Berning will officiate.  Following the service, a reception will be held at the Winona Eagles Club.

A private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Arcadia, WI, at a later date.
