Joseph G. Kamrowski, age 97, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 2, 1927, in Milton Township, Buffalo County, WI, to Clement and Martha (Glowacki) Kamrowski. Joe honorably served his country with the United States Army from 1951 – 1953 during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion in Winona, and a former member of the Cochrane-Fountain City VFW.

Joe was united in marriage with Shirley M. Barum on June 11, 1955, at St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona.

He was employed with Lake Center Switch, and later worked for many years in construction with Howard Keller Construction until his retirement. He was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America for over 60 years.

Joe was a long-time active member of St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona, where he served in many capacities including the Men’s Club, Dartball Team, Head Usher, and organizing and assisting with the Easter Breakfast, Pancake Breakfasts, and the Chicken Q’s.

He will be remembered for his enjoyment of fishing, hunting, gardening, helping his brothers on the farm, trips to the casino, playing cards, and baking cookies.

Joe is lovingly survived by his wife, Shirley; children: Perry (Anita) Kamrowski; Keith (Sherry) Kamrowski; and Tammy Stiever; grandchildren: Alyse (Vinny) Howard, Christian Kamrowski, and Nina (Gene) Herrera; great-grandchildren: Sophia and Delilah Herrera; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many friends including special neighbors, Jim and Pat Welch.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law: Bill Stiever; and all his siblings and their spouses: Roman, Teddy, Martha, Phil, Judy, Clem, Paul, Rita, Anton, John, Gertrude, Frank, Bernard, and Sister Symphorose.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, November 25, 2024, at St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church. The Reverend Kyle Lewis will officiate. Following the service, military honors will be conducted outside the church by the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona.

Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery, rural Houston, MN.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 1 PM until 4 PM, where a devotional service will be held at 3:45 PM. Visitation will also be held at St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 11:30 AM until the time of the service.

Pallbearers will be: Nina Herrera, Alyse Howard, Vinny Howard, Christian Kamrowski, Mike Mohr, and Margie Brevig.

Memorials may be directed to St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
