JOHN HOLTET
John Holtet, age 65, of Winona, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL.
John was born on July 19, 1951, in La Crosse, WI, to Martin and Mildred Holtet, Sr. He married Diane Block, and together they had two children, Jason and Jessica. Diane and John later divorced. John later met Jan Stoneburg, and they were married on October 22, 2005, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, and also of the Goodview Activity Group where he looked forward to helping with the annual car show.
John will be remembered for his love of the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, camping along the river, and traveling throughout the country. He also enjoyed motorcycles, old cars, tinkering, and trying to fix anything he could. John’s family was very important to him - he was an excellent provider for Jan, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
John will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Jan, Winona; children: Jason Holtet; and Jessica (fiancé Daniel Langford) Holtet, with their children: Anthony and Austin Holtet, and Adelyn Langford, all of Gainesville, FL; step-children: Katrina (Kevin Kreidermacher) Stoneburg, Winona, with their daughter, Athena; and Matthew (Nikki) Stoneburg, and their son, Walter, Winona; sisters and brother: Mary, Sally, and Martin, Jr., all of La Crosse, WI; mother-in-law: Opal Gossman, Preston, MN; Jan’s brothers and sisters: Tom (Brenda) Gossman, Indianapolis, IN; Debbie (David) Thompson, High Port, NC; Randy Gossman, Canton, MN; Bob (Sheila) Gossman, Preston, MN; Connie (Mike) Thedens, Plainview, MN; and Kristi (Dan) Ruesink, Cherry Grove, MN; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Sherry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Saturday, January 21, 2017, from 9 AM until the time of the Mass. A luncheon and reception will be held in the church hall following the Mass.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Holtet and Matt Stoneburg.
