JOHN JACOB AYOUB, JR.

John Jacob Ayoub, Jr. (Johnny), age 77, died at home at peace surrounded by his family, on August 30, 2016, after a prolonged illness.

Born August 22, 1939, in Washington, DC, he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University in August of 1961.  He was proud of his long career with the United States Naval Research Lab as an Engineer. After retiring from his family’s Oriental rug business in Washington, he moved to Winona, Minnesota, in September of 2000.

He volunteered with AARP doing taxes for low-income residents at the Friendship Center, and he volunteered at Winona Heath Clinic as a greeter at the front desk.  He always extended a helping hand to neighbors with electrical and other household problems.  An animal lover, he had several beloved dogs and was an avid reader, often frequenting Paperbacks and Pieces bookstore in Winona.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Ayoub; and children: John Ayoub, III (wife, Lisa), Stephen Ayoub (wife, Lucy), Jennifer Kaisken (husband, David), Magdalen Stevenson (husband, David), Antoinette Long (husband, Ryan) and by nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is also survived by his brothers, Richard (wife Siham), Ray (wife Teri) and James.  Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John (Hanna) and Antoinette (Jean) Ayoub.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Reverend James Berning will officiate.   John’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Basilica an hour before the Mass. All are welcome to a reception at the Jonathan Datta residence, 1436 Heights Boulevard in Winona, following the Mass.

A memorial service and burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016, the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.
