Joann Wieczorek

JoAnn Barbara Wieczorek, age 82, of Winona, died peacefully on March 9, 2021, at Benedictine – St. Anne in Winona.  She was born on December 13, 1938, in Arcadia, Wisconsin, to Pete and Ella (Kokott) Giemza.

JoAnn married Ronald Wieczorek and the couple raised their three children in Fountain City, Wisconsin.  JoAnn and Ron were later divorced after 26 years of marriage.  JoAnn later met her close companion Bernard Fenske.

JoAnn worked for Brach’s for many years and Wincraft for 41 years. Many of those years she worked at both jobs.  JoAnn enjoyed her trips to the casino and took gratification in keeping up her yard at her home in Fountain City.

Survivors include her daughter: Connie (Chris) Jensen of Winona, MN, grandson: Mike Jensen; daughter: Kim (Tim) Beckendorf of Cochrane, WI, grandson: Matt (Juliann) Beckendorf, great -granddaughter: Emma Beckendorf, great-grandson: Bennett Beckendorf, grandson: Jesse (Brenna) Beckendorf, great-granddaughter: Sloane Beckendorf; son: Randy (Pam) Wieczorek of Cochrane, WI, granddaughter: Sarah (Matt) Hund, great-granddaughters: Abigail and Madielyn Hund, granddaughter: Samantha (Mike) Sobotta, great-grandson: Camden Sobotta, and step- great-grandchildren: Ally and Mike Sobotta;  sisters: Rosie Sworsky of Berwyn, IL; Pat Ahrens of Winona, MN; and Sis (Gordon) Long of Mukwonago, WI.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ella Giemza; sister: Elaine Long; brothers: Albin Giemza and Ronnie Giemza; close companion: Ben Fenske; and ex-husband: Ronald Wieczorek.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the funeral service at 11:30 AM on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 East Sarnia Street, Winona.  Deacon Justin Green will officiate.  Those attending will be required to wear a mask and to follow social distancing guidelines.
