JOANE MARIE GALEWSKI

Joane Marie Galewski, 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, peacefully in her sleep after a 39-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

Joane was born on July 21, 1937, to Dominic and Geraldine (Wilkins) Galewski. Joane grew up in Winona, working at Boland Manufacturing before moving to Minneapolis in 1959 with her life-long friend, Teresa Hengel.

Joane began her 30-year career a Precision Cosmet (contact lens company) in 1960 and worked her way up to time study engineer. Joane was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Vikings and the Twins. She moved back to Winona in 1993 when she entered St. Anne of Winona.

Joane was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Veronica. She is survived by her twin sister, Diane Stow, Winona; her sister, Nancy (Tom) Springer, Trempealeau, Wis.; her brother, Jim (Anne) Galewski, Winona; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, October 10, in the Chapel of Our Lady at St. Anne of Winona, with Father Bob Stamschror officiating. She was laid to rest in St. Mary’s cemetery.
