Jean A. Brust, age 81, of Minnesota City, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Lake Winona Manor.
She was born on August 16, 1938, in Winona, to Ralph and Thelma (Sheridan) Leininger, and was a graduate of Winona Senior High School. She was united in marriage with Fred Brust, Jr., on April 6, 1957, in Winona. Prior to her retirement, Jean was an employee of KnitCraft for 40 years.
Jean enjoyed cooking, baking, and at one time, she was the only woman trapper in Winona County, earning the nickname of “Swamp Mama.” She will be remembered for her kind and loving nature, and the way that she enjoyed the simpler things in life. Her family was her first priority, and they always knew that she was there for them. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Jean is lovingly survived by her husband, Fred; children: Deb (Randy) Sobeck, and Jeff (Mary Sue) Brust; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister: Lynda Krall; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Sherrie Tschumper.
According to her wishes, funeral services will be held privately for her family. Jean will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
