James Muras

James H. Muras, age 81, of Winona, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Lake Winona Manor.

He was born on April 23, 1939, in Winona, to Henry and Clara (Heinz) Muras, and was a graduate of Cotter High School.

Jim was employed with Pepsi-Cola in La Crosse, and later worked for 27 years with the Winona Area Public Schools in the maintenance department until his retirement. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.

He enjoyed car racing, tinkering in his garage, and going to swap meets.  Jim will be remembered as a hard worker and great provider, who was a devoted father and family man.  He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Jim is lovingly survived by his children: Renee Muras, Robert (Lisa) Muras, Richard (Cheryl) Muras, Ronald (Bonnie) Muras, and Rebecca (Joshua) Stundahl; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Very Reverend Patrick Arens will officiate.  Jim will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  There will not be any visitation held on Wednesday, please meet at the Basilica for the Mass.  Those attending will be required to wear a mask, and to follow social distancing guidelines.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Muras, Shayna Muras, Christopher Muras, and Travis Tepe.

Memorials may be directed to the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, or to Lake Winona Manor.
