Isabelle T. King, age 97, a resident of Winona since 1949, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
She was born in Winona on December 27, 1922, to John and Mary (Wnuk) Lince, and married Albert E. King, Jr., on September 18, 1943. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Isabelle was educated in Wisconsin and Minnesota, leaving to become employed in Wilmette, IL, for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. She later moved to Alameda, CA, where her husband was stationed after World War II, and became employed with the Pacific Bell Telephone Company. Isabelle and Albert returned to Winona in 1949, where she was employed with the Red Owl grocery store for thirty years, retiring in 1985.
Isabelle was a former member of St. John Nepomucene Church where she and her husband were active in various church activities. They later joined the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart where Isabelle participated in Eucharistic adoration from its inception and she felt that this was one of her greatest joys and privileges. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Winona Court #191, and was a volunteer for Winona Hospice and for St. Anne Extended Healthcare.
Isabelle is lovingly survived by her daughter, Linda (Thomas) Wagner, Stillwater, MN; grandchildren, Allan (Amanda) Wagner, Cottage Grove, MN; Eric (Jamie) Wagner, Cottage Grove, MN; Kelly (Alex) Kretchmer, Lakeville, MN; Michael Wagner, Stillwater, MN; Elizabeth (Kevin) Spahr, Coon Rapids, MN; Christine Wagner, St. Paul, MN; and Therese Wagner, Woodbury, MN; great-grandchildren, Thomas James (TJ) and Haley Wagner; Leah, Jonathan and Samantha Wagner, Maddox and Rooney Kretchmer and expected baby girl Spahr and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; four infant sons and one infant daughter; parents; six sisters and five brothers.
Due to current health concerns, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her family. Isabelle will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Masses would be preferred in lieu of flowers.
