IRENE C. LANGOWSKI

Irene C. Langowski, age 88, of Winona, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016, at Lake Winona Manor.

She was born on November 25, 1927, in Wilson Township, Winona County, to Louis and Louise (Marg) Engler.  Irene was united in marriage with Chester Langowski on May 25, 1946, in Winona, and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1996.

Irene and Chester farmed together for many years in Pickwick.  She will be remembered for her love of gardening, flowers, and for the way in which she cared for others, always putting their needs ahead of her own.  Irene was a devoted wife, and was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved and respected her.

Irene is survived by her children: Jacquelyn Hagy, Winona; Joyce (David) Meyers, Rollingstone, MN; Nancy (Gary) Chadbourn, Minnesota City, MN; and Patrick (Rosann) Langowski, Atwood, TN; a daughter-in-law: Bernita Langowski, Wilson, MN; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Victor (Gloria) Engler, Valley City, ND; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her sons, Mark and Gary.

It was Irene’s wish that her passing be observed simply.  In respect of her wishes, a graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 15, 2016, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona.  Those attending should meet at the cemetery chapel by 10:25 AM, and we will drive together to the gravesite.  Deacon Justin Green will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers will be Irene’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to the Winona Area Humane Society, in honor of Irene’s love for animals.
