Ila Marie Zieman, 103, of Winona, died on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living in Winona.
Ila was born April 19, 1918, to Norman and Elizabeth (Crowley) Mayenschein in Hillsboro, Wisconsin. She was baptized in Hillsboro and graduated from the Bangor High School in Bangor Wisconsin. Ila married Francis Carl Zieman on March 5, 1939 in Winona and celebrated 64 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church since 1938.
Ila was a devoted mother to her three daughters. She was employed at the Cinderella Shoppe for 20 years, and did alterations for the Castle dress shop. Ila did sewing for others in her home, as well as designing and sewing dance costumes for Mary Edstroms’ dance group. Ila was also an active member in her church helping to organize The Girl Pioneers, as well as being an active member of the Alter Guild, Circle and PTA. Ila volunteered her time in the church office and helped with the Ebenezer Birthday Club.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three daughters, Mary Lou Teska, Jean (George) Gross, and Shirley (Don) Loucks, all of Winona; eight grandchildren, Bill Teska, Jr. (now deceased), Cindy Steidtman, Susan Zaph, Lance Duellman, Eli Duellman, Amy Peterson, Paul Loucks, Thomas Loucks; fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
Ila was preceded in death by her husband Francis Zieman, who passed away August 26, 2003, at age 87; parents, Norman and Elizabeth Mayenschein; three brothers: Bernard, Harley, and John; one sister, Norma; son-in-law, Bill Teska; and grandson, Billy Teska, Jr.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Lance Duellman, Eli Duellman, Paul Loucks, and Thomas Loucks; great-grandson: Justin Teska; and granddaughters: Cindy Steidtman, Susan Zaph, and Amy Peterson.
A prayer service will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home for the family with Pastor Ray Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Online condolences or memories may be left for Ila’s family at www.watkowski-mulyck.com
