HUNTER J. KUKOWSKI

Hunter J. Kukowski, age 30, of Winona, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017, at his home.  He is now at peace and safely home in heaven with his beloved father, Larry Kukowski.

Hunter was born in Winona on January 7, 1987, to Larry Kukowski and Pam Remlinger. He was a graduate of Winona Senior High School, and continued his education at Rochester Community and Technical College. Hunter did have plans of continuing his education in California.

He was employed with the maintenance department at the Winona Senior High School.

Hunter loved to go coon hunting with his dog, Misty, whom he always said was his best friend. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he loved gardening. Along with his passion of hunting and gardening, Hunter also enjoyed learning and taking care of his salt water fish. He recently found an interest in Freemasonry and the Masonic Lodge, and was looking forward to starting initiation into the Lodge.  As someone who had suffered from Lyme’s Disease, Hunter was interested in finding a cure and also in providing education so that others would better understand the disease.

He will be remembered as a warm and kind-hearted person who had a heart of gold.  Hunter was always loving and respectful towards others, and he wanted everyone to be at peace and love one another.

Family was very important to Hunter.  He especially missed his dad, Larry, who passed away when Hunter was 7.  He had a great relationship with his grandma Marcella, and was especially close and dearly loved his grandma Helen.  Hunter and his mother Pam had an extremely special bond between mother and son. He was so proud of his sister Hailey and all of her accomplishments.

Hunter is lovingly survived by his mother, Pam; sister, Hailey; grandmother, Helen Kukowski; beloved dog, Misty; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his close circle of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Kukowski; paternal grandpa, Pat Kukowski; his maternal grandparents, James and Marcella Remlinger, and uncle, John Fellenz.

Hunter will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona.  The Reverend James Berning will officiate.

Hunter will be laid to rest in the Witoka Cemetery.

Visitation will be held in the Commons of St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 10:30 AM until the time of the Mass.
