Harry E. Pozanc, age 95, of Winona, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Benedictine – St. Anne in Winona, following a short illness.
He was born on October 27, 1925, in Winona, to John Sr. and Teresa (Verdick) Pozanc, and was a graduate of Winona High School. He honorably served his country with the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Harry was united in marriage with Alice Sulla on February 23, 1952, in Winona, and she preceded him in death on February 23, 2020. He owned and operated Harry Pozanc Trucking in Winona for many years, prior to his retirement.
Harry will be remembered for his love of playing the stock market, gardening, duck hunting, and he always said that he was the best walleye fisherman in Winona. He and Alice enjoyed many memorable trips throughout the country with his family.
Harry is survived by his daughters: Linda (Greg Aichele) Pozanc, and Nancy Valentine, both of Winona; a granddaughter, Alexis (boyfriend, Joe) Valentine, Fairbanks, AK; brother: Chester (Sharon) Pozanc, Winona; sisters: Esther Bescup, Teresa Thicke, and Christine Whetstone, all of Winona; and Shirley Larsen, Florida; sisters-in-law: Irene Pozanc and Barbara Pozanc; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers: John Jr., Raymond, and George Pozanc; and in-laws: Tom Bescup, Lyle Whetstone, Bernard Thicke, and Bradley Larsen.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Monday, April 26, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 East Sarnia Street in Winona. Deacon Justin Green will officiate.
Following the service, military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Neville-Lien Post 1287 of Winona. Harry will be laid to rest in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Wilson.
