HAROLD R. "SLUGGER" CADA
Harold “Slugger” R. Cada, age 96, of Winona, died peacefully on March 9, 2017, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Winona, on May 7, 1920, to Mark and Barbara (Gabrych) Cada.
Harold was a loving great uncle to all his nieces and nephews. He also lived independently to the end. Harold got the name “Slugger” because he was a great hitter for the Diamond Ball at Gabrych Park. He was a big baseball fan, especially for the Minnesota Twins and was also an avid curler at the Centerville Curling Club, where he won many championships with his buddies.
Harold worked for many years in the maintenance department at St. Mary’s College.
He is survived by his sister, Ruth Janikowski, Milwaukee, WI; two brothers, Richard (Pauline) Cada, Winona, and Edward (Barbara) Cada, Winona; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
His parents and three brothers, Robert, Lawrence and Donald preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral. Deacon Justin Green will officiate.
Harold will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, on Thursday, March 16, 2017, from 11 AM until the time of the service.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Cada, Owen Cada, Kendra Cada, Jackson Cada, Andrew Hensley and Conner Hensley.
