Gregory J. Lexchel

Gregory J. Lexchel, age 70, of Winona, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at his home.

He was born on May 4, 1954, in Chippewa Falls, WI, to Floyd and Margaret (Hrdlicka) Bischel, and throughout his life, he touched the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Greg devoted his career to precision as a tool and die maker, working with IBM and Hutchinson Technology before enjoying a well-deserved retirement.

A man of unwavering kindness and generosity, Greg was always eager to lend a helping hand in any situation. His selfless nature was evident to all he met; he would gladly give the shirt off his back to those in need, and this warmth of his character endeared him to many. He was also proud to donate his time with Habitat for Humanity, and as a bell-ringer for the Salvation Army. In addition to his professional pursuits, Greg found joy in various hobbies and interests. An avid fisherman, he found solace in the great outdoors. As a firearms enthusiast, he enjoyed trips to the shooting range, embracing his passion for marksmanship. Greg's love for collecting extended to many items, including a fascination with history and muscle and classic cars. He also showcased his rhythmic talent as an enthusiastic drummer for several bands over the years.

Greg's greatest joy in life was his family - he was so proud of his children, and he cherished the time that he spent with his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for the kindness that radiated from him in every interaction. May his memory continue to inspire acts of generosity and compassion in all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Greg will be dearly missed by his children: Elizabeth (Andrew) Vetter and Greg C. (Amber) Lexchel; grandchildren: Nixie, Elora, and Jayden; siblings: Theresa, Celeste, Stephen, Kevin, and Brenda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who have been touched by his presence. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will forever be remembered for the kindness that radiated from him in every interaction. May his memory continue to inspire acts of generosity and compassion in all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Valley Oaks Pavilion (please note change of venue) on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 10 AM until 4 PM. It will be a potluck, so please bring a dish to pass.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials, and ask that they be directed to: Habitat for Humanity; the Prescott, WI, Trap Team; or the Prescott, WI, Rod, Archery, and Gun Club.
