GERALD E. "JERRY" SORENSON
Gerald E. “Jerry” Sorenson, age 80, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at his home.
Jerry was born on August 3, 1937, in Winona, to John and Agnes (Dublinoski) Sorenson. He honorably served his country with the United States Army, and was a member of the American Legion.
He was united in marriage with Mary Ann Buchholz on October 24, 1964, in Winona.
Jerry enjoyed woodworking, and loved to go antiquing to find treasures to restore. He will also be remembered for his love of hunting, playing Cribbage, E-Baying, and going camping with his dear friends, the Heasers.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughters: Brenda and Bobbie Jo; son: James; 9 grandchildren: Brooke, Heather, Stephanie, Chelsea, Jake, Sierra, Parker, Faith, and Jamie; 11 great-grandchildren: Madison, Kaelynn, Nick, Chase, Malayah, Aveanna, Alyvia, Sophia, Elliott, Ashton, and McKenna; chosen daughters: Dawn, Kelsea, and Annie; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard; and daughter, Deanna.
A combined celebration of life for Jerry and his son Rich (who passed away on September 24, 2017) will be held from 1 PM to 4 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at the American Legion Club in Winona.
Visitation for Jerry will be held from 11 AM until the funeral service at 1 PM on Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Deacon Justin Green will officiate.
Jerry will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors.
