GERALD W. BURGMEIER

Gerald W. Burgmeier, 83, of Stockton, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Gundersen Health System Hospital in La Crosse, WI, of Interstitial Lung Disease.

He was born in Winona, MN, on October 21, 1933, to Harvey and Mildred (Prange) Burgmeier.

Jerry spent his early years with Grandma and Grandpa Prange on the farm on German Ridge.  He attended St. Martin’s Lutheran School for 9 years and graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1951.  He was active in FFA and was an avid dairy farmer and later raised Holstein steers.

On October 19, 1957, he married Carol Ann Ledebuhr at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona.  Together they had two children.

He enjoyed his garden, polka music, watching classics on TV and his pets.  His greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Allyn (Lynnie) Burgmeier, Winona; daughter, Amy (Daniel) Benke, Lewiston, MN; grandchildren: Carl (Michelle) Benke, Lewiston, MN, Heidi (Chad) Stellpflug, Stoddard, WI, and Katie (Don) Grunloh, Eyota, MN; great-grandchildren: Joanna and Brayden Stellpflug and Danika and Johnalyn Grunloh; brother-in-law, Daniel (Beverly) Ledebuhr, Bartlett, TN.; and a niece, Dawn (Will) Murphy, San Mateo, CA..

He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents: Louie and Hattie (Miller) Prange; paternal grandparents: John and Minnie (Roloff) Burgmeier; aunt, Margaret (Ray) Miller; uncle, Clarence Prange; and twin great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 766 West Wabasha Street, on Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM.  The Reverend Matthew Schoell and the Reverend Karl Gurgel will officiate.

Gerald will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
