Gary Petschow

Gary Petschow

Gary W. Petschow, age 68, of Winona, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019, in Winona.

He was born on November 1, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, to Edward and Dorothy (Zeise) Petschow, and was united in marriage with Patricia Schneider on March 16, 1972, in Waukon, IA.

Gary was a long-time employee of Home and Community Options, where he served as the Primary Counselor for their Woodland Hills Drive program.  Gary was recently honored for his service to HCO, and in his own words, he summed up his selfless attitude, and how he always put others first: “Throughout the years, I have never dreaded the next day of work, I look forward to them.  The people I work with on a daily basis are truly inspiring.  Every day I work at HCO is a milestone because I leave work with the satisfaction of the positive influence I leave behind.  Woodland Hills is like my home away from home, and I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.  The word “work” is deceiving because I love what I do.”

Anyone who knew Gary knew that he was the ultimate Packers fan.  He also enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, was proud of his truck and yard, and he cherished the time that he spent with his beloved children, grandchildren and dogs.  He will be deeply missed.

Gary is lovingly survived by his wife, Pat; daughter: Jessica (Mike) and their children: Alexis (Katie), Steph and Cassandra (Dustin) and their children: Sommer and Noah; son: Allen (Andrea) and their children: Bradley, Austin, Kendall, and Domanic; including Bradley’s mother: Tracy Petschow; Gary’s “boys and girls” Suzie, Joey, and Bear; and dear friend: Timmy Pellowski; siblings: Audrey Sommers, Dody (Lee) Huwald, Edward (Debbie) Petschow, and Bobby (Gina) Petschow.  Gary is also survived by many nieces and nephews; his in-laws in the Schneider family; and his extended Home and Community Options family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dorothy; brother-in-law: David Malewicki; niece: Rhonda Sommers; and nephew, Shane Petschow.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM on Monday, February 25, 2019, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will also be held from 9 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.  The Reverend Brian Mulligan will officiate.  Those who are attending are encouraged to wear their Packers attire to the visitation and funeral.
