Florence Stolpa

Florence A. Stolpa, age 91, of Winona, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the Roger Metz Manor.

She was born on July 14, 1927, in Tamarack, WI, to Max and Martha (Walski) Lilla.  Florence was united in marriage with Frank M. Stolpa on June 7, 1949, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Trempealeau, WI, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1965.

Florence was employed with Watkins and the Winona Knitting Mills prior to her retirement.  She was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka where she was active with the funeral lunch committee.

She will be remembered for her love of sewing and gardening, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Florence is lovingly survived by her children: Renee (Carl Vogel) Peterson; Richard (Debra) Stolpa; William (Debbie) Stolpa; and Steve Stolpa; grandchildren: Rachel (Dave) Finch; Jessica (Victor) Smith, Jenna (Steve) Krage; Alison Stolpa; Tayler and Morgan Stolpa; Evan and Alexis Stolpa; and Ryan (Raquel) Hanson; great-grandchildren: Caleb, Carissa, Naomi, Sam, Mia, Camilla, Sabina, Anderson, Jackson, Hope, Hudson, and Harrison; sister: Lorraine Kujak; brother: Roman Lilla; brothers-in-law: George Stolpa and Ben (Gayle) Stolpa; sisters-in-law: Marlene Stolpa and Lorraine Brophy; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother: Edmund Lilla; brother and sister-in-law: Daniel and Imelda Lilla; brothers-in-law: Robert Kujak; Gene, Walter, Robert, Donald, and Edward Stolpa; and a sister-in-law: Bernice Thilmany.

Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Very Reverend Patrick Arens will officiate.  Florence will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Bill, Steve, Richard, and Tayler Stolpa; Ryan Hanson, and Victor Smith.  The Honorary Pallbearers will be: Carl Vogel, Dave Finch, and Steve Krage.
