EVELYN G. RUPPRECHT
Evelyn G. Rupprecht, age 92, of Winona, and formerly of Lewiston, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.
She was born on April 22, 1924, in Winona, to Herbert and Stella (Yackel) Blanchard. After graduating from Lewiston High School in 1942, Evelyn worked as a nurse aid at the Winona General Hospital, and was united in marriage with Donald Rupprecht on January 5, 1946, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston. While Don was stationed with the military, they lived on Mare Island in San Francisco. Following Don’s discharge, they moved to Winona, then to the Fremont area, next to the Hart area, and in 1952 they settled on a farm they purchased in Wyattville.
Following Don’s death on April 2, 1973, Evelyn relocated to La Crescent, MN, where she worked at the local nursing home, and also as a real estate agent. She was also employed at Rush Products, Camera Art, Sauer Memorial Home, and as a cook at Cly-Mar Bowl in Lewiston.
Evelyn was an avid follower of football and baseball, and was a huge Minnesota Twins fan. She was honored by Bert Blyleven and the Twins recognizing her 80th birthday in 2004. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, freezing, and sewing. Evelyn was an excellent bowler, and she served as the secretary and treasurer of her bowling team. She enjoyed taking bus trips - one of her most memorable was to Glacier National Park, and her frequent and favorite destination was Branson. Evelyn was a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston, and its Dorcas Society.
Evelyn is lovingly survived by her children: Rebecca (Bob) Baer, Fremont, MN; Larry (Jen) Rupprecht, Lewiston, MN; Peggy (Bill) Page, Mazeppa, MN; and Joan Tradup, Plainview, MN; grandchildren: Timothy Tarras; Andrew Tarras; Alicia Elsing; Bryan Tradup; Carlton Tradup; Stacey Rupprecht; and Bradley Rupprecht; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
