Evelyn Catherine Orzechowski, age 98, of Winona, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020, at Sauer Health Care in Winona.
She was born on February 19, 1922, in Menominee, IL, to Bernard and Sophia (Greenwald) Bonnet. Evelyn was united in marriage with Stanley Orzechowski on May 28, 1949, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Warren, IL, and he preceded her in death on September 11, 1990.
Evelyn was employed with the Winona Knitting Mills for several years, and later worked for 30 years with Lake Center in Winona until her retirement.
She was a member of Harvest House, and of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka where she was active with the St. Ann’s Guild and served on the funeral lunch committee for many years.
Evelyn will be remembered for her love of reading, cooking, playing cards with the girls from the St. Ann’s Guild, and she made the best apple pie there ever was! She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Roger Orzechowski, Winona; and Mary Orzechowski, Rochester, MN; sisters: Helen Toelle, Freeport, IL, and Patricia (Gail) Proctor, Dyersville, IA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers: Arnold, William, and Robert Bonnet; and a sister, Agatha “Sandy” Scheidt.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Friday, November 13, 2020, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Very Reverend Patrick Arens will officiate. Evelyn will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Those attending will be required to wear a mask and to follow social distancing guidelines.
A memorial is being arranged.
