EUGENE ALLEN CHADBOURN

Eugene Allen Chadbourn, age 84, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016, peacefully with the prayers and love of family and friends at Sugar Loaf Senior Living Memory Care Unit in Winona.

He was born on September 22, 1932, in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, to Lyle and Maude (Paswalk) Chadbourn.  Eugene was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Philipps on November 29, 1952, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona MN.

Eugene was a master handy man and assisted many family and friends with his skills. He was always busy working at something.  Eugene drove for the Gateway Transportation and farmed for many years, sold seed corn for Cargill Seed, and later worked in facilities services as the boiler engineer for St Mary’s College. Eugene was instrumental in the creation and design of the current Wilson Community Town Hall and Fire Department and served as County Board Supervisor and a volunteer fireman for a number of years.

Eugene was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He will be remembered for his numerous skills but mostly for his passion for people as he seemed to know someone no matter where he went.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy, and eight children: Karen (William H.) Krause, Tim (Linda) Chadbourn, Gary (Nancy) Chadbourn, Cheryl (Bruce) Speltz, Glenn (Debbie) Chadbourn, Patricia Chadbourn, Duane Chadbourn, Kaylene Joswick, 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his three brothers, Donald, Gerald, and Lee Chadbourn and sister Barbara Rice.  He is preceded in death by his parents and infant grandson Allen Chadbourn.

Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wilson on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 9 AM until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.  The Reverend Glenn Frerichs will officiate.  Eugene will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, with a luncheon following the burial.
