Eugene Bork

Eugene Paul Bork, age 82, of Bluff Siding, WI, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Winona Health.

He was born on November 17, 1936, in Arcadia, WI, to Henry and Clara (Mertes) Bork, and was a graduate of the Fountain City High School.  He married Rosalie “Che Che” Mrozek, on October 4, 1958, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona.

Gene played baseball for four years, and later, fast-pitch softball, and he also enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, trapping, and country music.  He was a member of the Eagles Club, Dodge Sportsmen Club, and the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.

He retired from TRW (Lake Center Industries) after 44 years of employment.  Gene and Rosalie enjoyed trips to Europe, Alaska, Canada, and to many of the states here.

Gene is survived by his wife, Rosalie “Che Che”; daughter: Phyllis (Joe) Kupietz; son: Brian Bork; grandchildren: Joseph Paul (Hilary) Kupietz, and Amber (Matt) Platteter; great-granddaughter:  Victoria; brothers: David (Irene) Bork, and Donald (Grace) Bork; sisters: Jane Dzwonkowski, and Rita (Don) Fort; sisters-in-law:  Ann Eder, Louise (Don) Merchlewitz, and Marion Gibbons-Sobotta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; brothers-in-law: Phil Eder, Victor Gibbons, Frank Sobotta, and Harry Mrozek; and sisters-in-law: Romelle Larson, Sandi Schmidtknecht, and Anne Mrozek.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.  A private family burial will be held at Pieper’s Valley Cemetery at a later date.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be considered in lieu of flowers.
