Ernest "Ernie" G. Blaskowski

Ernest George “Ernie” Blaskowski, age 67, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN, after his battle with cancer.

He was born on November 11, 1956, to Ernest and Pauline Blaskowski.  He attended elementary school in Nodine, MN, and high school in Lewiston, MN.

Following high school, Ernie moved to Rochester where he lived for about 10 years and was employed with a landscaping company.  He later moved back to Winona and built his own boathouse which he was very proud of.  Ernie worked for the railroad, several river barge companies, Winona Monument, and St. Mary’s College.

Ernie enjoyed making homemade jewelry, and also weaving rugs, crosses, and balls using rope, wire, chain, and various other items, and he liked sharing his creations with family and friends.  Ernie was also very musical and loved to share his talent with others.

Ernie is lovingly survived by his brothers: Dan (Pat) Blaskowski, Oakdale, MN; Bernard (Sheila) Blaskowski, Muscatine, IA; Leo (Barb) Blaskowski, Winona; Matt (Pam) Blaskowski, Cottage Grove, MN; and George Blaskowski, Winona; sisters: Cecelia (Michael) Weaver, Kailua, HI; Virginia (Tony) Kujawa and Lorraine (Steven) Garrison, both of Florida; Pauline (Michael) Siebenaler, St. Charles, MN; and Frances (Randy) Klug, Cedar Falls, IA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Pauline Blaskowski; brother-in-law, Kieth Evenson; niece, Ruth Jankowski; and a nephew, Erik Evenson.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona.  Pastor Deb Bebout will officiate.

He will be laid to rest at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Lewiston, MN.
