Eric Blackketter

Eric J. Blackketter, age 31, of Winona, MN, entered into the Lord’s presence on May 2, 2019.

Eric was born on February 16, 1988, to Darrell Blackketter and Roxanne (Blackketter) Lewis in Sioux Falls, SD. Eric spent his first two years of life in Brookings, SD, and then became a lifelong resident of Winona, MN, where he attended Bluffview Montessori and Winona Senior High School.

Eric enjoyed working and used his skills in many different types of employment over the years. He was last employed at TRW, where he had been a five year employee until leaving a number of years ago due to health issues. He took pride in all work he did.

His life was largely about relationships, loving kindness, compassion, and forgiveness.  He loved so many things in life: people, nature, knowledge, family, and last but not least, his gaming system.  Eric followed his own path and our lives were more vibrant because of it.

He was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, who will be so deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Eric is lovingly survived by his parents and their life partners; one sister: April Lewis, Waseca, MN; two spiritual brothers: Cody Sorensen, Winona, and Dustin Davis (cousin), Volga, SD; one daughter, Emmalynn J. (Blackketter) Kostuck, Winona; one son, Devon (Blackketter) Bruzek; and many loved relatives and friends.

Eric was preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents, and an uncle, Robert Blackketter.

A gathering will be held from noon until a time of remembrance at 1 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.
