EMIL M. GRULKOWSKI

Emil M. Grulkowski, age 86, of Winona, and formerly of Pine Creek, WI, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Lake Winona Manor.

He was born on December 20, 1929, in Milton Township, Buffalo County, WI, to Frank and Josephine (Jaskola) Grulkowski.  He married Josephine V. Patzner on April 8, 1953, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2014.

Emil farmed for many years in Pine Creek, and he and Josephine later moved to Winona.  He was a past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, and was presently a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Winona.

He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, and riding his bike.  He also enjoyed listening to classic country music, and taking care of his kitties, squirrels, and birds.  Emil’s greatest joy in life was his family, and he loved to spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Emil is lovingly survived by his children: Joseph (Ruth) Grulkowski, Minnesota City, MN; Roxanne (Thomas) Babula, Lake Villa, IL; Frank (Julie) Grulkowski, Sr., Germany; Michelle (Larry) Castro, Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren: Frank Grulkowski, Jr.; Aaron (Jackie) Grulkowski and their children, Zaden and Asher; Matthew (Sara) Grulkowski; Jordyn Grulkowski; JoAnne Babula; Jennifer Babula; Michelle Babula; Nichol Castro; and Samantha Castro.  Emil’s granddaughter Victoria passed away in 2013, and is survived by Victoria’s husband, Rich (Feme) Pinckney and their son, Gabriel.  Emil is further survived by his sisters: Margaret (Alfred) Schlesser, Roseanne (Bob) Berberich, and Mary Stiehl; brothers-in-law: Carl Patzner, Doug (Mary) Horsnell, and Joe (Lenore) Glodowski; sisters-in-law: Sister Rita Patzner, OSF, Joan Patzner, Sally Patzner, and Marg Passe; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Josephine, he was preceded in death by three infant children: Mary Anita, Frank, and Edward; his parents, Frank and Josephine; brother: Roman Grulkowski; and sisters: Antoinette Baures, Gertrude Passe, Virginia Horsnell, and Frances Rothering.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, WI.  The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Emil will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Sunday, March 27, 2016, from 6 PM until 8 PM, where the Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at 7:30 PM.  Visitation will also be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, WI, on Monday, March 28, 2016, from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM.

Pallbearers will be members of Emil’s family.

Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
